David Cook to open the American Idol Experience at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando on Feb. 12 with a performance on the replica AI stage.
The official opening is Feb 14 2009 and is in Disney World’s Hollywood Studios area.
It is an almost perfect replica of the “American Idol” TV show theater and stage. It has Hi-Def cameras, a judges table and seating for a thousand in the audience.
Singers get the chance to audition, perform and maybe even to try out for the real “Idol.”
There will be as many as 400 auditions per day, you can sign up online at http://www.disneyworld.com/idol or in person. A casting director will determine who moves on after an audition and critique conducted in a private area.
Those who make it through will go to a VIP room to choose from 113, get some vocal coaching, and sing in front of a producer, using a microphone and taped backing music.
Every day there will be 21 VIP level singers chosen to sing in front of the audience. Three singers for each of 7 shows that day. At the end of each day, the “winner” of each of the 7 elimination shows will compete for the ultimate prize, a “head-of-the-line” pass to audition for the real “Idol”, at the finale show at the end of the day.
You must be 14 or older.
You must be available to come back for shows later that day if selected.
You can even boo the judges!
